York Stag Do Activities


“Tommy, we’re going to the races!” Put on your peak caps like the Peaky Blinders and head for a day at the races. Knavesmire is the 280 year old racecourse in York, known as ’Ascot of the North’. There’s no better way to celebrate a stag do in style by heading out with your suited and booted stags to drink plenty of pints and enjoy fantastic racing.

Another option for exciting activities on your stag do is to travel to Carlton Towers, a 250 acre estate which is a 40 minute drive from the city. Here, you can go for a round of Clay Pigeon Shooting, trying your arm with air rifles as you attempt to shoot the clay discs before they hit the ground. You’ll need to have your eye in for this one!

Alongside the shooting at Carlton Towers is the chance for you and your mates to head off road with some 4x4 driving! This activity involves commandeering a powerful 4x4 and speeding over rugged and muddy terrain in the Yorkshire Countryside.


For those who enjoy the supernatural, you’ll be interested to learn that York is known as 'Europe’s most haunted city'. There have apparently been 500 sightings of ghosts around York’s medieval streets, and perhaps going on some of the ghost walks around these streets will result in another sighting! A Ghost walk departs from The Shambles every evening at 7:30, as a spooky guide will tell masterfully tell stories that are both spooky and funny. You will taken on a tour of York’s most haunted locations, getting you involved in some of the pageantry all the while!

A later ghost walk is the "Original Ghost Walk of York", which sets off from the King’s Arms Pub at 8pm. You can choose to get down early in order to enjoy a few drinks before heading off for a evening of unsettling entertainment. What’s more, private parties are available for large groups, meaning your stags will get a guided tour at a time of your choosing!

York Stag Do Night Life


To begin your night out in York, there are a number of bars and pubs that should be of interest to you. You’ll quickly notice that York city is brimming with bars that are big proponents of craft beers—making these establishments magnets for lads on their stags.

Such venues are the York Tap—a historic station pub that revels in serving craft beers, and BrewDog York, a bar that specialises in Scottish brewery's craft beers.

For an all-out nightclub for your nightlife destination, few are better than The Kuda—a 3 floor nightclub that has a Hawaiian style ‘tiki’ bar in the basement! As York’s top nightlife spot, you can be assured that the place will be packed to the rafters!

Another nightlife venue that is buzzing with activity is Fibbers, a bar which has live gigs from local and national touring bands from 8pm on weekends. As well as this, the bar stays open until late, transforming into a nightclub at 11pm. The nightclub will often attracted top DJ’s to perform, and with cheap drink and loads of promotions, Fibbers really has a lot to offer.
