Groom Holds Best Man Competition!

08/08/2013
Duncan Twigg sets challenges for brother Chris and pals Luke, James and Dan to complete in order to land the role of best man!
When 31 year-old DuncanTwigg proposed to his girlfriend Rosanna, 27, two years ago, he was sure he wanted his best man was up for the job.

He decided to set up 12 devilish challenges between his brother and three of his best friends, which had to be completed over a two year spell. These included a dance-off, a pub treasure hunt, and a best man speech contest, along with a hot dog eating contest in April this year. The overall winner emerged as brother Chris, 29.

Delighted Chris will now proudly stand by his brother's side when he ties the knot with his financee at a ceremony in the village of Stokenham, Devon, this Saturday. He admits he fell behind in the early going, but thanks to a strong showing down the stretch he ended up taking the crown. "There was no way I was going to lose because I should have been picked originally," Chris said. "But knowing Duncan as I do I had to humour the contest and try that little bit harder to make sure that I won. I was determined to win it because he is my brother and it was something I really wanted to do." Chris also won the sports challenges, which included a wheelbarrow race, a high jump competition and a basketball game.

Duncan told Yahoo: 'There's been a lot of fun and games and it's been a great excuse for the guys to get together. It's almost like I've been on 12 stag dos.

The first event was held in August 2011 where the four men competed in a pub treasure hunt, followed by who could make the most money from £10 within eight hours, which was won by Dan. After that, a traditional school sports day took place and consisted of an egg and spoon race, a three-legged race and a sack race. The lads also held a Come Dine With Me-style contest, and another sports day, where the boys played each other at darts, pool and dominoes. It was at this point Chris had taken the lead of the other competitors.

When it came to Duncan's stag do, which Chris finally got to organise last month - they set him challenges of his own when the group went to Liverpool for the weekend. Duncan said: 'They bought me a four foot-long Subway sandwich and ordered me to eat it. I only got about a third of the way through before I was full.'

Despite missing out on the role, the other three contestants will have the consolation of being ushers at Duncan's wedding.

Awk wasn't that nice of him after torturing them all... It certainly is a challenge for us at StagorHen.com to look into!!
