80s Hen Party

It's time for Themed Thursdays where your going back in time to the 80s where almost everyone loves their music!

1) 80s Clothing and Accessories

Rock some jelly shoes. Jelly shoes were an 80s staple. Made from PVC and available in a wide variety of styles and colors (some were even glitter-infused), jelly shoes are the perfect accompaniment to any 80s outfit. This cheap and cheerful footwear has been making a comeback in recent years, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding them. Babe Hi Juju multi glitter shoe £28 @ Office (available in a variety of colours). Women’s pink retro jelly sandals £7.99 on ebay (available in a variety of colours).

The mini skirt came to the forefront of fashion in the 80s and has never really left. Look for skintight skirts in materials like denim, PVC and cotton and pair with an over-sized, off the shoulder t-shirt (tucked into the skirt) and some legwarmers for true 80s fashion cred. Orange textured jersey tube skirt £12.99 New Look (available in a variety of colours).Leg warmers £3.95 and Fish net gloves £2.99 available at fancydressball.co.uk. Retro pin button badges £6.99 for a pack of 12, Retro style shutter shades £3.99 available at 80neonfancydress.com which has all the accessories you need to set complete your look.

Over-sized tops were everywhere in the 80s. Try a massive, off-the-shoulder sweatshirt, a giant t-shirt worn over leggings, or a brightly-colored sweater cinched in at the waist with a gaudy belt. If you find a top you like simply buy it in a few sizes up and you have your oversized 80s style top. Coral Party lovers boyfriend t-shirt on sale £6 New Look. Ladies off the shoulder jumper £6.99 on eBay.

2) 80s Hair

In the 80s the hair was big, chemically treated and fried but that won’t stop us trying to copy their style. The key to perfect 80s hair is to get it as big as possible in any way possible. A brilliant way to do this is to crimp your hair which was a hugely popular trend. I’m sure if you ask among your group of friends someone will have a crimper stashed away in the back of cupboard. If you don’t want to take the time to crimp a simple side pony tail as shown in the picture below will also give your hair that 80s vibe. In order to help your hair stay up as long you do I would suggest using dry shampoo which gives your hair texture and hold without making it hard and sticky which I find with most hair sprays. In my opinion the best dry shampoo on the market is batiste £2.99 available at boots and most pharmacies. (Below) 80s retro style sun visor available at 80neonfancydress.com which has all the accesoories you need to set complete your look.

3) 80s Makeup

1980s make-up was bold and over the top, everything in excess. Now a day we are told to either highlight the eyes or the lips but not both, this is not true for this look. This is your chance to use all those bright colours in your eye shadow palettes that you would not normally use on a daily bases .Go over the top with a bright pink blush and finish of with an even brighter pink lipstick to complete your look. (Below) Barry M, Ultra moisturising lip paint in pink pearl £4.49 available at Boots , Superdrug and online at barrym.com. Sleek make-up i-Devine eye shadow palette £7.99 @ Boots, the blues and purples in this palettes are perfect for creating a glamorous 80s inspired look.

Thank you for reading this week. I hope that I have given you some ideas and helped you to put together the perfect 80s Retro Outfit for your girly getaway. Remember there is no such thing as over the top when it comes to this era of style... so go nuts!
