Fun Festival Hen Party Fashion

By

Festival season is now upon us and for any music-loving brides a music festival can be the perfect way to get your group of girls together for a hen party celebration. Whether you’re staying close to home with at Longitude or Electric Picnic; across the water at Glastonbury or T in the Park; or even further afield to the likes of Nos Alive in Lisbon, there are endless possibilities of what to wear to make sure you look festival ready with your fellow hens. And with Coachella - arguably the most fashionable festival of them all – already taken place, it’s the perfect time to get your festival wardrobe in shape. Here are my favourite looks this festival season.

What to Wear...

Josephine Skriver and Taylor Hill’s looks from Coachella this year optimise off duty model style in festival season. If you plan on wearing shorts like Josephine to show off your tan, keep the look balanced to ensure you look more festival than beach. Boots are the perfect way to do this, whilst also being comfortable and great for stomping through the festival fields. Throwing a checked shirt around your wait is a nod to effortless grunge chic, whilst also being perfect to actually wear when the evenings get a little cooler. Or you can follow Taylor’s look with her boho flares and crop top – again, keeping the balance of not showing too much skin. I bought these flares myself in Florida last year from Francesca’s Collections, the same time Kendall Jenner wore them to Coachella last year and team mine with gold flat sandals, golden jewellery and white lace crop tops. Back in the UK you can find similar styles in Topshop and H&M, and if Taylor lacy bralet feels too racy for you, try River Island or Zara for lace and crochet long sleeved cover ups in creams and whites to lighten the look.

Accessories

If you’re looking for fun, playful, almost fancy dress looks for you and your hens then look no further than the queen of Coachella herself, Vanessa Hudgens. The ultimate icon for boho chic in her day-to-day life she really amplifies it during festival season for some seriously fun looks. Take inspiration from her and use temporary metallic tattoo transfers, which you can get in Accessorize, beaded and feathered hair accessories, festival themed nails (she got hers done this year with her sister, Stella at Laqué nail bar) and glitter to make up, to make for fabulously dramatic hen party looks. This year Vanessa teamed her massive mane of hair with lots of mixing of textures and styles, doubling her denims of different shades with mix and match crochet and suede textures. Don’t forget to add some fun jewellery!

The Perfect Hairstyle and Shades...

Kendall Jenner, the model of the moment, never fails to impressive with her off duty style. She’s recently amped up the glam factor at Cannes but here she proves she can add a bit of glamour to her festival looks too. Following the crochet trend Kendall adds stacks of chunky silver jewellery and fringing, but keeps her hair more tame, tying it up in two sleek buns – this is a perfect festival hairstyle as it is easy to do and is great on day two or three when you need to manage your hair and still want to look good. Finish off your look with a pair of fab sunglasses to perch on top of your stylish up do. Here, Kendall has gone for round retro glasses which are the in look right now – you can treat yourself to a similar pair from River Island, Topshop or Urban Outfitters.

If the Weather Dampens your Style...

Unfortunately if you’re planning on celebrating with your hens in the UK or Ireland there is a chance that you might get some rain! However, it’s easier than ever to look stylish whilst covered up for the weather, as Millie Mackintosh shows gorgeously above. Hunter wellington boots are always the signature boot to have on your feet at Glastonbury and can be found on the high street in Office and Schuh, but also stop there to check out some more quirky wellington styles and colours at a more desirable price point. With your feet dry and cosy make sure the rest of you is too with a stylish pacamac or coat. Millie’s military inspired coat above is perfect for a grunge festival look, but if you’re after something a bit more bright and fun getting looking in Topshop for everything from floral prints, metallic sheens, bright yellows and clear, see through coats that are sure to make your hen party easy to spot in the crowd!

So ladies, wherever you end up this festival season there are plenty of ways to create an effortlessly chic look, perfect for your hen party weekend escape. And what better way to celebrate than a full weekend of dancing away to your favourite music with your favourite people, making sure it's a hen weekend to remember!
