Floral Winter Wonderland Hen Party Fashion

By

Floral prints have always been a part of every Spring Summer collection, with Alexander McQueen’s Spring Summer 2007 collection, above, incorporating flowers into fashion in ways never seen before. And yes, while the dress above was the showstopper in a Spring Summer collection the deeper purples in the colour palette are exactly what the floral prints for this winter are shaping up to look like. The darker season calls for darker colours, with edge, mystery and sultry intrigue. This is perfect for an elegant, refined hen party and a fabulous way to add a feminine element to a look of brooding leather and studs for a hen night out.

TOPSHOP - Strappy Floral Jacquard Dress

A look at Dolce and Gabbana’s Autumn Winter collection for 2016 is filled with blood red rose motifs, showing that this trend is one to last. If you can’t wait until then, try a dress like this one, above, from Tophop. The moody florals make the dress pretty, yet more grown up than girly. The blue creates a solid colour against the black background, similar to what Dolce and Gabbana have planned for next year. Style a feminine shaped dress like this one with pointed courts in black or metallic to match chunky silver jewellery, adding an edge to the outfit. Or try heels with long ankle ties, fringe, or even chunky ankle boots to stop the look from seeming too proper. Add plenty of rings in silvers with dark stones to keep the outfit luxurious.

WAREHOUSE - Embroidered and Sequin Dress

If you’re after a party dress with a little more refinement, one with sleeves, sheer material and intricate embroidery screams elegance. This one above from Warehouse boats similar colours to that one from Topshop, showing how blue really in the royal colour of the season, with rich woven threads and sequin details. Contrasting these elements with the velvet belt adds another hint of glamour to the look; pair with gold jewellery to match the golden threads, or try wearing your hair up with statement chandelier earrings. Barley-there sandals are the go-to for a busy dress, keeping all focus on it and not your feet. Go for a simple black pair, or if you want a little bit of fun, try a gold pair from New Look. Get their real leather pair for extra comfort and support without breaking the bank.

OASIS - Photographic Floral Lined Longline Coat

If your idea of winter floral prints feature dark, luxurious wine and plum coloured flowers contrasted with sharp winter greys and blacks look no further than Oasis’ designer collaboration, Pick Me, with American photographer John Grant. Whilst the collection is packed with tops, jumpers, skirts and dresses in varying yet equally gorgeous floral printed designs my personal favourite has to be the long line coat with the exquisite romantic floral lining of peonies. This can bring a subtle nod to the floral trend to your hen party outfit and adds a twist on the usual plain dark coat. After all, in the winter months, a coat is just as important a part of your hen outfit look as what you’re wearing underneath it. Style it like the model with contrasting floral prints, or work it in with burnt oranges and purples that are prominent in the print itself.

TED BAKER - Sefina Shadow Floral Clutch Bag

For a little bit of floral fun to add to your outfit why not try a winter floral accessory? Ted Baker’s SEFINA miniature bag incorporates the rich purples and blues prominent this season, a colder twist in the usual floral prints to match the weather outside. For a quirky take on the usual clutch bag carry it by rose gold handles, adding extra opulence, transforming the floral trend and making it a more modern, wearable piece. Team with a dark plum lip and matching shoes for a rich, sleek, sultry look that oozes femininity and rose gold jewellery for a vintage hint.

Dark winter flowers are a great spin on the traditional summer floral prints and can create a fabulously dramatic look for a hen party, day or night. So ladies, now is the perfect time to add a little floral to your hen party look, and if you’re looking for something a little different from the traditional glitter embellishments of this time of year, this is the way to do it. So embrace your sophisticated side and give winter floral prints a go for that extra bit of dark elegance.
