Burgundy Colour Swatch for Stylish Hen Parties

By

Whenever it comes to Winter fashion the main trends always go deeper, darker, richer than the rest of the year and 2015 is no exception.

Burgundy Diva

Whatever you choose to call it; maroon, berry, wine or burgundy, the reddish-purple tone is the go-to colour swatch to team everything with this season. But don’t be fooled, the dark sultry shade is long lasting – more of an established style than a passing faze. It exudes a classic stylishness that is perfect for any kind of hen party, be it an elegant dinner evening, Winter city break or even simply the colour of nail polish you choose when on your hen weekend at the spa, and there are so many ways to wear it.

The simplest, yet most effective way, of wearing the burgundy colour palette is in dress form. There are plenty of variations to choose from; Miss Selfridge do a fabulous collection in the colour, ranging from 70’s inspired dresses with flares sleeves, dresses with a long lace overlay and a bejewelled burgundy number that it reminiscent of the 1920’s flapper days – perfect for a themed hen party! Wear 70’s styled burgundy with dark brown and tan colouring in the form of boots, belts and tasselled bags for a more casual day time hen party. If your hen party has a more refined dress code, try this burgundy lace dress, above, from Topshop. The fine, intricate lace and sheer panels create a soft, elegant look. Team with pearl earrings and pointed court heels for a hen lunch with the girls.

Modern Glamour

For a more modern take on the colour, try wearing it top to toe, but wearing separates. Blouses with bows teamed with flares are another 70’s nod with more of a twist. For something a bit more edgy try burgundy leather trousers, such as those in Warehouse, and team with a burgundy embellished top to mix textures to create a fun party outfit. If you’d rather keep your outfit plain and ruffle free, add interest with burgundy accessories, such as Beyoncé’s burgundy jewelled earrings she wore on the Tidal red carpet to match her dress and fur stole for the ultimate colour blocking outfit.

Killer Heels

If wearing a solid colour top to toe seems little daunting ease yourself into the burgundy trend by just adding a pop to your outfit. These burgundy Parisian lace up high heels from Office are the perfect fashion-forward element to add to any outfit; with a pleated midi skirt for a sophisticated hen high tea, with a metallic dress to contrast the suede of the shoe, or even with cropped skinny jeans the next morning at breakfast with the girls. The tassels add a fun extra embellishment and add a detail of interest. For something not as detailed or intricate, try a simple burgundy court shoe, playing with the fabrics – choose between suede, patent leather, or even a pair of burgundy glitter encrusted heels for ultimate party glam!

Nail It

If you’re after just a little splash of burgundy to polish off your hen party outfit try colour coordinating your make up with your nails. A striking burgundy lip can add a sultry, mysterious yet bold edge to an outfit. Team with a nail polish in the same shade to keep your look sleek. Contrast with lighter clothing such as creams and whites to have a strong impact, or team with chocolate browns, charcoal greys or blacks to make your outfit even deeper, darker and more captivating.

Burgundy shades are my favourite colours to wear, especially at this time of year, filled with sultry warmth and is the perfect elegant Winter shade that looks good on everyone. So, however you plan to style your burgundy there’s plenty of options to choose from, making sure that you look that little bit extra stunning and stand out from the crowd.

Swirl It

And of course, when you’re out at a hen party you get to pair it with the ultimate burgundy accessory – a glass of red.
